Stacy Ann Ferguson, professionally known as Fergie, is a Grammy Award-winning American pop/RB singer. Fergie is the current vocalist of The Black Eyed Peas. She is also pursuing a solo career and released her first solo album, The Dutchess, in 2006.
In 2003, Ferguson took over the role of lead female vocalist for the band, The Black Eyed Peas, replacing background singer Kim Hill. Ferguson's addition to the band, which had been playing unnoticed for years, was one of the chief reasons that the band enjoyed immense success. Fergie has also acted in some Hollywood movies. In July 2003, she had a guest role on the Rocket Power special, Reggie's Big Beach Break, voicing a fictitious pop music star named Shaffika. In 2006, she appeared in the movie Poseidon. Fergie won the 2006 MTV Award for Best Hip-Hop Video for the song “My Humps”.
After two hit Black Eyed Peas albums, Ferguson turned towards on a solo career. Her first album, released in September 2006, is entitled The Dutchess. At the same time, Ferguson has not quit her role of vocalist with the band. The album was a success, with two hit singles, "London Bridge" and "Fergalicious".
Fergie has had problems with drug addiction in the past. Ferguson was a former member of the female trio Wild Orchid. Wild Orchid released two albums, but Fergie quit the band later. She blames this to her problems with drugs. However, she has recently announced that she has managed to quit her addiction. |
