In order to string a violin, certain things are required which include chairs, violins, violin bows & bridges, pitch pipes, rosins block and violin cases. With these things one may get started with the process of stringing a violin. The first thing that one needs to start with is to the gradual loosening of all the 4 strings. Then removing each one of them from the doweling must be the next step. The retrieval of the bridge supporting these strings is another step that follows. This needs to be placed in violin case for future purposes.
After the above mentioned steps are over, the violin strings are to be cut from the keyholes known as ‘tail piece’. These holes should be marked as this would help in remembering about the mounting of the strings. Once al this is done, a knot is tied at each string in order to make them fit just below the slot of the strings. This helps form the required anchor point after application of suitable tension.
Now the clean end from each of the new strings must be threaded through an underside of slots of the holes in tail piece. One needs to make sure that string is set properly and will not skip during the increase of tension. The strings are set on bridge indentations at their top and the foot is kept over tone post. Rotational tightening of the strings is then followed by the pitch making & tuning process which is the final step.
