How To Tune A Clarinet ?

The clarinet is one of the most important instruments in any music setting. The clarinet sets itself perfectly in any orchestra or band. It depends on you whether you want to play it alongside a band or otherwise. Even if you might be playing it all alone fine tuning of clarinet can always help. The tune can either be sharp or flat depending on your experience and your need. The name was derived from an Italian word Clarino. It uses just one single reed and has a cylindrical base.

Most people often get confused clarinet with a trumpet. The instrument has more features and consists of other clarinet members too. The clarinet might be the largest out of all with BB♭ contrabass and A♭ soprano. The key person who plays the instrument is known as the Clarinetist. The instrument was first invented in Germany during the 18th century. Presently it is extensively used in Jazz, solo musicals and classical mix.

Firstly, start with playing third space C in case you are playing with a band. Remember the tuning note in any kind of concert should ideally be B-flat. Once the orchestra is set tune the level to B-natural while the concert notes go to A 440 Hz. In case you want to determine the sound level, you need to invest in electronic tuner which might give you the pitch that is necessary. So, every time you produce a tune you can check the tuner to realize the sharpness or mildness.

Try to make your clarinet look longer as this will give you the right sound most of the times. Shorter clarinets always tend to produce tunes on a higher pitch.
