How To Clean A Clarinet ?

Every instrument needs to be handles with care. These musical instruments look huge but are made up of highly elastic and light material. The instruments are mostly expensive and hence a slightest mistake or tampering can just break the instrument. Most of the times, proper maintenance can increase the shelf life of the instrument. Hence, the repair cost would be negligible.

The clarinet is yet again a very important instrument and there are ways in which you need to clean it. Make sure you have the clarinet case, a cloth, swab, cork grease, key oil, and a mouthpiece brush and paper-lens paper. Firstly, push through the swab so that the moisture is out from the instrument. The moisture can cause the pads in the instrument to loosen grip. Clean the inside of the instrument by inserting a cloth through s string carefully. You can use a brush instead of the cloth too.

Secondly, use the cloth to wipe off the dust on the keys thereby removing any kind of finger sweat mark. Any kind of moisture will damage the instrument. While cleaning, you need to ensure that the mouthpiece is kept in the reed guard. Cover the mouthpiece with the material provided.

You should always keep the instrument in the case when not in use. Also, applying a little oil once a while will lubricate the keys well. The lens paper needs to be kept between the pads so that when the instrument is shut in the case nothing happens to the pads and the key. Never ever chew candy or chewing gum while handling the instrument. If you happen to drop your saliva on the pads while chewing, the pads will seriously need a replacement which would again be tight on your pockets.
